Janelle Sanabria

Fancy seeing you here!
My name is Janelle Sanabria, and I'm an emerging actor currently based in Chicago! I'm a proud Puerto Rican and originally a Wisconsin native now enjoying life in the city. I graduated from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where I earned my BFA in Musical Theatre in May of 2024!
A little about me
My love for theatre started when I was an awkward teen about to enter my freshman year of high school. There I was, sitting next to my dad as he showed me an old playbill of his from when he was in West Side Story as a teenager. All I could think was, "This is it! This what I need to do forever!" Well, after bombing my first ever audition for a musical, which hilariously was Les Mis, I was certainly deterred for a bit. Eventually I was cast in my first role in a musical, playing Irene Roth in Crazy For You my sophomore year of high school. Since then, my passion for theatre has only grown. I've performed on stages in both Madison and Chicago, most recently appearing in New Faces Sing Broadway 1960 with Porchlight Music Theatre!
When I'm not performing, you can find me channeling my creativity into digital art, playwriting, strumming away on banjo, or playing Dungeons & Dragons. Usually with my cat, Pigeon, keeping me company!
I'm someone who values community very highly, and can often be found along side those I love. Theatre takes a village, and you cant expect a village while not being an active participant. I believe the heart of the craft comes from connection, and I pride myself in being someone who is constantly seeking it! I hope to work with you!
